WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
CITIZENSHIP BY DESCENT IS FOR INDIVIDUALS WHOSE DIRECT-LINE ANCESTORS:
- were Polish citizens according to the Citizenship Act of 1920
- passed the citizenship to their child
- did not rescind or lose their citizenship status before the child’s birth
- direct-line ancestors are for example a mother, grandfather, great grandmother
ARE ELIGIBLE TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO THE REGIONAL GOVERNOR TO CONFIRM YOU ARE A POLISH CITIZEN

REQUIREMENTS
DOCUMENTS PROVING AN UNBROKEN CONVEYANCE OF THE CITIZENSHIP FROM THE ANCESTOR TO YOU:
- certificates of birth, marriage, and death
- passports, identification cards, and passengers’ lists
- school, military, or professional documents
- residents’ lists
- any other documents confirming that your ancestors were citizens of Poland
